A SOLID FOUNDATION
Young Actors Theatre Islington offers a Professional Acting Foundation Course that will enable you to develop an essential performance vocabulary through training in acting, movement and voice. YATI offers individual support for audition preparation and enjoys links with London drama schools such as: Guildhall School of Music and Drama and Mountview Academy.
The Foundation Course gives you the opportunity to work with respected professionals including: Ex-LAMDA teacher Yvonne Morley, Steve Brownlie from Mountview, and Andrew Harries, YATI Artistic Director who is an internationally experienced and award winning director and acting teacher.
The course will prepare you for whatever your chosen next steps may be, whether it’s a full time drama school course or exploring a career in the performing arts.
The YATI Foundation Course is in partnership with The Guildhall School of Music and Drama and Mountview Academy.

15 Contact hours per week | 10.00-13.30pm Monday to Friday | 36 Weeks
Students are taught acting skills such as improvisation, character voice, singing, dance and stage combat. They also work on classical and modern plays and learn a variety of techniques for rehearsal and performance. The approaches and theories of key acting practitioners are core parts of the syllabus as well as audition technique. You will also explore what is involved in being a working actor and how the industry functions.

Victoria Evaristo
Victoria Evaristo trained at the Guildhall School of Music and drama and is an actor, director and freelance drama tutor. Victoria has taught at Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, Sylvia Young Theatre School and Identity School of Acting among others.
Zhenya Leverett – STAGE COMBAT
Zhenya is a Certified Teacher with the British Academy of Stage and Screen Combat. She has taught workshops across the UK, in Germany and the USA. Zhenya trained in Drama and Theatre Arts at Ulyanovsk State University, Russia. Zhenya has recently appeared in BBC’s Killing Eve.
Steve Brownlie
Steve has worked as actor across the UK and internationally. Steve teaches at a number of the UK’s leading drama schools including RADA, Mountview, Drama Studio London, Arts Ed and LAMDA. Steven specialises in mask, chorus, animal studies and transformation.
Lanre Malaolu – DANCE
Lanre is an actor who has worked extensively in theatre and television including The RSC, The Globe, and The Royal Court. Television includes: BBC, Channel 4, and ITV.
Barney McElholm
Barney is a director who works extensively in outreach and is interested in developing new work with collaborative ensembles.
Yvonne Morely-Chisholm | VOICE
Yvonne was Head of the Voice Department for the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art which included working with writers and a range of directors. Yvonne is an associate artist with both the RSC and NT.
Niall Hemingway
Niall trained at The Courtyard Theatre Training Company. Niall has had a strong career in Theatre and Musical Theatre, performed in concerts for award winning composers and a featured soloist.
Derek Oppong
Derek first trained at Identity, and has enjoyed a career on both stage and screen. Derek leads acting classes for adults, seniors, acting for camera and many more.
Asha Cornelia Cluer
Asha trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and has worked for The Royal Court, Bristol Festival of Ideas. She loves clowning, physical theatre, Shakespeare, and sword fighting!
Jonathan Woolfe
Jonathan trained at Drama Centre London, and has worked as an actor since he was 8 years old. He teaches at Shakespeare’s Globe and has worked at the RSC, National Theatre… Shared Experience, Young Vic and many more.
Eleanor Dillon-Reams
Eleanor trained at East 15 and is a long standing teacher at YATI. Winner of The Stage’s award for Acting Excellence with HellBent Theatre’s sell-out show UKIP THE MUSICAL; now both a writer and performer.
Beth Mullen
Beth is an actor and writer hailing from Teeside. Shows include Netflix’s After Life and BBC’s Pompidou. Beth’s passionate about teaching a younger generation of actors and writers!
